TASIM participants to gather in Budapest in March 2012

Next meeting of participants of the Trans-National Eurasian Super Information Main (TASIM) will be held in Budapest in March 2012, Ilyas Naibov-Aylisli, Head of the TASIM Working Group, told. He said such decision was taken at a working meeting of TASIM participants in Istanbul in the early November.

The Istanbul meeting was very constructive, said Naibov-Aylisli. All details of the projects were under scrutiny for the first time and ways of preparation of a Memorandum of mutual understanding, a relatively complex document, were examined at the meeting.

"On the whole, the interest of TASIM participants in the project grows every time after a gathering. Key issues the sides examine include study of market capacity, communications canals capacity, and project management structure.

As for conclusion of Memorandum of mutual understanding by the sides, we'd very much like all works in this direction to end by the date of BakuTel-2011 Exhibition (November 23-26); however, we may need additional time as the document is complex," he said.

The TASIM Working Group consists of representatives of Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, and China. Ukraine and Georgia also expressed their principal eagerness to join TASIM.

"The project envisions the laying of two mains, one of which will pass the territory of Ukraine and the other one will pass the territory of Turkey. Both mains will be independent, interchangeable," Naibov-Aylisli noted.

These countries' operators will act as a link to European biggest operators. TASIM throughput capacity will be counted in terabytes, Naibov-Aylisli reported earlier.
