The ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Swiss Confederation Akram Zeynalli has met with Bishar Abdurahman Husseyn, the director general-elect of the United Nation’s specialized agency, the Universal Postal Union. During the meeting the ambassador expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Universal Postal Union (UPU).
He also expressed his confidence in further development of this cooperation under the direction of the newly appointed director general of UPU. While speaking about serious achievements attained in Azerbaijan’s postal services sector, A.Zeynalli provided UPU’s director general with broad information on activities implemented in this sector.
“Azerbaijan, being an active member of UPU, will continue to support the development of the international postal sector. Mr. Bishar Abdurahman Husseyn, in his turn, said that he was well-aware of the achievements made in Azerbaijan’s postal sector.
He gave a high appraisal to the care and attention being shown by the state to this sphere. “Azerbaijan, as a member of UTU, is taking an active part in UTU’s activities, and, in this way, plays a serious role in the development of international postal sector. In this context, UTU considers Azerbaijan as its important partner.” The director general also noted that during his term of office we would do his best to further strengthen UTU-Azerbaijan cooperation.
Then, A.Zeynalli invited UTU’s director general to make an official visit to Azerbaijan and Mr. Bishar Abdurahman Husseyn gladly accepted this invitation. At the end of meeting the sides exchanged views on a number of other issues of mutual concern.
