Development of a space industry is a priority for Azerbaijan's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the minister said in Davos.
Addressing an interactive meeting at the World Economic Forum, Ali Abbasov said that Azerbaijan would launch its first satellite this year.
He noted that according to international rating agencies, ICT in Azerbaijan was between the level of developed and developing countries.
Ali Abbasov said that another priority for the ministry was information infrastructure.
"The formation of Electronic Government and public information services and the provision of information security are among the priorities. We are also working on Azerbaijan joining regional projects in ICT."
