Within the framework of the visit the Japanese delegation led by the chief vise-president of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation Takashi Sasakava was received by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The minister of communications and information technologies Ali Abbasov welcomed the foreign guests and provided them with broad information about activates implemented in the ICT sector of Azerbaijan. The minister said that by launching “Azerspace-1” telecommunication satellite into orbit Azerbaijan entered a new phase of development in this sphere.
“Preparation works are now underway in the Republic to put the second telecommunication satellite into orbit. Azerbaijan-Japan Space Sector Seminar will give a fresh impetus to the development of relations in this sphere between the two countries. Both Azerbaijan and Japan companies participating in the work of the seminar will be able to further expand their mutual cooperation.
Japan can be a very good partner to Azerbaijan in many segments of the ICT sector. T. Sasakava, in his turn, expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies for its assistance in organizing the Azerbaijan-Japan Space Sector Seminar held on February 27-28, 2013. He said that the main goal of the seminar was to promote the development of Azerbaijan – Japan economic relations and boost bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
“I am satisfied with the level of development of the ICT sector of Azerbaijan. There are now favorable conditions for strengthening mutual cooperation in this sphere. Japan, which is holding the leading place in the world in the development of information technologies, is ready to share its experience with Azerbaijan.”
T. Sasakava gave high assessment to the launch of Azerbaijan’s first telecommunication satellite. He said that Azerbaijan, having enormous potential in this field, would soon become a regional space industry centre.
“Private ICT companies in Japan are interested in establishing mutual cooperation with Azerbaijani companies.”
Then, a presentation of famous Japanese ICT companies was held.
