During the meeting, the minister provided the gust with information about activities implemented in Azerbaijan within the context of declaration 2013 the Year of ICT in the country by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He also informed the guest about work carried out in the Republic in line with “Azerbaijan 2020: Look into Future” Development Concept.
While speaking about the realization of the Development Concept in the republic, the minister said that the concept specifies science, education and technologies as the priority directions of future development. Yongsung Chi, in his turn, expressed his satisfaction with the rapid development of Azerbaijan’s economy.
He said that “Elsevier” publishing company possesses 25 percent share of the world’s scientific publications market. “Today, our company has its own scientific databases such as “ScienceDirect”, “Scopus” and “SciVal”. Azerbaijani scientists can use the company’s database in their future scientific and research activities as an inexhaustible source of information.
“Elsevier” publishing company is the world’s most venerable publishing house, and it is interested in expanding its relations with Azerbaijan. The expansion of these relations will give a strong impetus to the formation of electronic science in Azerbaijan.”
