The minister of communications and information Technologies Ali Abbasov has met with the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Argentina Republic to Azerbaijan Carlos Dante Riva. During the meeting the minister spoke about the successful development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Argentina over the last few years.
He stressed the importance of mutual visits at different levels for further strengthening of ties between the two countries. The minister said that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Argentina in the ICT sphere started in November 2011, during the minister of science, technology and productive innovation of Argentina Lino Baranao’s visit to Azerbaijan, when the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Azerbaijan signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The ambassador Carlos Dante Riva, in his turn, said the there existed good opportunities for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and Argentina in most areas, including the ICT sphere. He said that Argentina was very interested in further strengthening cooperation with Azerbaijan.
While touching upon the implementation of joint projects, the ambassador noted that meetings held between Argentine Investigaciones Aplicadas (INVAP), specializing in various technological projects, and Azerbaijani Azercosmos Open Joint Stock Company had brought very positive results.
He also said that INVAP can help Azerbaijan to develop the space industry. In his turn, the minister Ali Abbasov pointed out that it was very important to expand participation of Argentine companies operating in telecommunication, information technologies and other spheres in the Azerbaijani market. “In order to promote cooperation between the two countries in the ICT sphere, Azerbaijan has invited Argentine companies to BakTel-2013 exhibition and conference, which will be held in Baku in December 2013. A national pavilion will be set up at the exhibition hall for these companies.
During the exhibition the Argentinean companies may enter into mutual cooperation with the State Information Technologies Development Fund, High-Tech Park and Information Technologies University, which are subordinates of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies.”
