The minister provided the foreign guests with thorough information about MCHT’s activity directions, including the provision of telecommunication and postal services, digital broadcasting of TV and radio channels, management of radio frequencies, provision of internet and electronic services, development of space industry and high technologies, including biotechnologies, nanotechnologies and microelectronics. A.Abbasov said that ICT as a new rapidly developing economic sector was brought to the fore in Azerbaijan’s future development strategy, and that certain targets were included in the “National Strategy for the development of the information society in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2014-2020” in order to achieve the comprehensive development of this area. While speaking about the investment policy being conducted by the state towards the formation of innovative, competitive and export-oriented ICT potential, the minister noted that the Croatian companies were also welcomed to use the investment opportunities. Stjepan Mesic, in his turn, said that warm relations had been formed in all areas between Azerbaijan and Croatia.
“There is good potential for developing bilateral relations in different fields, including the economic sphere. I would like to express my satisfaction with the successful development of cooperation between the two countries. Both countries are interested in further developing and strengthening of the bilateral relations. In this context, it is very important to increase the participation of Croatian companies in the Azerbaijani market”. The former president also said that Croatian InfoCumulus company, which was represented in the delegation by its employees, intended to open its representative office in Azerbaijan and to start providing here its services in such areas as business consulting, “cloud” technologies and IT solutions. Also, he invited the Azerbaijani side to Croatia to acquaint it with the projects that had been implemented in the postal system of Croatian by ALFATEC Group company, the main contractor of the project for the automation of postal circulation in Croatia.

The Ministry of Communications and High Technologies (MCHT) of the Republic of Azerbaijan has received a foreign delegation led by the former President of the Republic of Croatia Stjepan Mesić. During the meeting Minister of Communications and High Technologies Ali Abbasov stated that relations between Azerbaijan and Croatia were established based on the principle of mutual friendship and beneficial cooperation.
